When Buyana Galbadrakh came from Mongolia to the United States to study at Southern Methodist University, the diplomat’s daughter spoke little English. But it wasn’t long before she learned the language of true love when she met Ryan LaPlante at a dog park in downtown Dallas. After dating for a year and a half, Buyana proposed to Ryan.

The wedding planning started full swing with the assistance of Karol Welsh of Dallas Wedding Planner. With the inspiration of Buyana’s St. Pucchi gown with gold detailing, and knowing that Buyana loved leaves, Karol designed an autumn-themed wedding with hues of ruby reds, golden oranges and chocolate browns. Innovative florist Fete des Fleurs carried out the concept by trimming the bride’s bouquet with fall leaves and drizzling the red aisle runner with fresh fall leaves. The reception followed with the fall theme with acorns and a chocolate cake adorned with gold-trimmed fall leaves.

The couple said their “I do’s on a Thursday because according to the Mongolian zodiac, both Friday and Saturday are unlucky days for Buyana. It was a beautiful setting at Marie Gabrielle Gardens. With the sounds of the birds and the beautiful string quartet, Buyana and Ryan shared their vows in front of their small gathering of 50 friends and family members. The reception followed at Marie Gabrielle Restaurant.
