Vendor Interview: Let’s Talk to Mood Swings Entertainment

Filed in Local Vendors 2 comments

Today, Dallas Wedding Planner is excited to share another vendor interview,  Mood Swings Entertainment with you.  After doing wedding planning for ten years, I recognize how important the choice of your musicians are to the success or failure of your event.  I have personally had the privilege of working with Mood Swings Entertainment and I can saw they did a fabulous job, worked professionally and kept the party fun all evening and played fabulous music for everyone to enjoy all night.

Here’s are interview with Cody Schwartz of Mood Swings Entertainment.

Number of years in business: 10.  I began the concept and name “Mood Swings” in 1999.  In 2001 we incorporated and became Mood Swings Entertainment.

How did you get started in your business? Playing in bands in college.  I finally got tired of driving all over the state for other people and all the bad band leaders annoyed me to the point of putting my own band together.

What person has had the most influence in your business? Dr. Thomas Houston.  He was my clarinet professor in college and has his own big band.  I still play with him to this day.

What services do you offer to brides? We offer live music for wedding ceremonies and receptions alike.  We have a variety of soloists, a Jazz Duo & Trio, Jazz Combo, Little Big Band and a full Big Band to offer.  We specialize in jazz, but variety is our goal.

What is your most favorite location to play at for a wedding? My favorite place is Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth.  It’s elegant, easy to enter and exit, the staff is awesome, and the views are awesome.

What is the most chosen song for a first dance song at the wedding reception that you like to play? At Last

What song do you love that you do not play often at a wedding that you wish brides would choose? I love Latin music and the dances.  I wish more people knew how to cha-cha, samba, etc and would include more of those songs.

What is your favorite part of the wedding day? That’s a hard one.  It’s a toss up between the First Dance and the Daddy/Daughter dance.

Do you have a favorite wedding blog? Um, yours, of course!

Thanks Cody for your time with us.  For all of you wedding professionals out there who haven’t meet Cody with Mood Swings Entertainment yet, take some time and give him a call.  For any of you brides reading this interview, give them a call and check out their website. They even have some demos on their website. And remember, good quality musicians are essential to providing you an important aspect of a successful event.

I lead an ’80s band in Austin, and I want to echo what Cody of Mood Swings wrote about encouraging the bride and groom to very carefully explore the music for the reception. We’re a great band a ton of fun, but I’m always surprised at how often the bride or groom doesn’t truly check us out and explore exactly what they are getting into with a band. As I said, we always are very professional and totally focused on making the evening fun and memorable, but there are SO many bands out there who do NOT do an excellent job. Suggestion: Check out the band live, if at all possible. If not, insist upon live recordings (not studio). Remember also that since it’s your wedding, the band should offer you the opportunity to help arrange the set list. In short, please be thorough in checking out your band. There are too many sub-par bands out there, and this day is much too important!
