Martha and Josh are Dallas Wedding Planner’s featured engaged couple of the day. They were engaged in May 2009 when Josh surprised Martha on a bike ride through the park. How cute is that. The engagement photo session of Martha and Josh was captured by Allison Davis Photography.

How did the two of you meet? We first met when we were in elementary school when Josh’s dad coached our little sisters in basketball. But we didn’t go on our first date until I moved back to Dallas. Our moms are good friends and when I was on a trip to Colorado and Josh had just returned from there, they decided we had a lot in common and began scheming. A few weeks later we were on our first date and six months later we got engaged!

What is your wedding date and where are you planning on getting married? Our wedding date is February 6, 2010 and we’ll be getting married in Richardson and having our reception at the Cotton Mill in McKinney.
We have seen the Cotton Mill in McKinney is a popular place lately. How did you go about selecting your wedding location? Josh had been to a wedding reception there a year or two ago. We had talked about what we wanted our reception to be like and it fit perfectly. It is a blank canvas for making it your own, while providing a great rustic romantic feeling.
What is one thing that you have enjoyed most about planning your wedding since you got engaged? I have loved thinking about how I am going to enjoy all of the decisions I am making on our wedding day. The only things I spend time worrying over are the ones that are sentimental, that I want to be sure turn out great. Like leaving the ceremony in my grandfathers old Chevy pickup truck that I remember riding in when I was little. Or my bridesmaid’s gifts; making sure they are perfect for each one of them so they know how much I appreciate their friendship and being part of my wedding day.

What’s your favorite memory from your engagement photo session? I really enjoyed how Allison prompted us to pose or sit, but then just let us work with it until it became our own as she snapped away. It was during those moments when Josh and I really shared some special time together and we started to forget that there was someone there taking pictures of us. The pictures she captured of those moments are the ones that I love the most.
What is one thing that has surprised you most about the wedding planning process? How easy it is if you let it be that way. We planned our wedding ourselves, and by getting all of the big things out of the way (locations, caterer, florist, etc.) in the beginning, and tackling about one thing a week it really has fallen in place well within our 8 month engagement.

Congratulations to Martha and Josh. Your wedding date is quickly approaching. We look forward to seeing the next time you are kissing you will be husband and wife.
Thank you Allison Davis Photography for supplying the images for Martha and Josh’s love story.
