Laura and Dan are today’s featured engaged couple on Dallas Wedding Planner.  They will be getting married on July 10, 2010. Their ceremony will take place at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and the reception will be held at The Old Red Courthouse and Museum.  Their fun engagement session was taken by K & S Photography.

How did the two of you meet? Dan and I went to the same Junior High and High School, but we always ran with different crowds and never once spent any time together.  I went off to college and graduated and Dan got a job and bought a house in our home town.  Then, one day five years after high school and completely out of the blue, I ended up hanging out with one of Dan’s friends, and we ended up on Dan’s front porch.  So I guess one would say we met in Junior High, but we didn’t get to know each other until 10 years later.

When did you get engaged? March 15, 2009

Tell us about your proposal. He proposed on the same front porch where we reunited with one another and where we later shared our first kiss.

What quality do you like or admire most about each other?
Dan:  Laura has a lot of qualities that are to be admired.  Her intelligence, her work ethic, her beauty, I could go on and on.  However, the quality I most appreciate is her humor.  I don’t think many people know how funny she is, but in the right situation she can really surprise you.

Laura: I often say that Dan is completely opposite from me. I suppose it’s true that opposites attract. I feel that we compliment each others personalities nicely. What I most love about Dan is that he truly keeps me grounded. I have a tendency to be tightly wound, but always find comfort talking and being with him. He also has a smile and charismatic attitude that lights up a room. You can’t help but smile back.

Where is your favorite place  to go or your favorite thing to do with each other? We like to relax and be lazy together.  We like to take the dogs on car rides and let them stick their heads out the window, a nice walk in perfect weather is also enjoyable. If good food and good scenery is involved, we are usually happy.

Where did you go for your photo session? We went downtown Dallas to the West End and Deep Ellum areas.

What’s your favorite memory from your engagement photo session? When we were approached by a man selling roses on the street. Shauna was quick with her camera and took some priceless pictures!

Which picture is your absolute favorite, and why?
Dan:  The one where we are standing between the fountains, Laura is leaning back with her leg up and we are about to kiss. Just a good picture.
Laura:  I like the picture where we are standing at the old Joe’s Crab Shack in the West End. We’re both leaning on the railing looking into each others eyes. I think it looks romantic. Plus, my hair looks good ;)

What is one thing that you have enjoyed most about planning your wedding since you got engaged?
The most enjoyable part about planning our wedding has been the taste testing.  (Dan)
The most enjoyable part about planning our wedding has been “the planning.” Ultimately, we will be Mr. & Mrs.- this is what I get excited about!  (Laura)
The most aggravating part about planning our wedding is having to be the patient one while the other controls the mouse and keyboard.

What colors are you using for your wedding? Eggplant and charcoal grey with white accents.
