Julie and Scott’s Engagement Session in the Dallas Design District

Today’s featured engaged couple is Julie and Scott. They spent most of the day in Dallas at the Design District with their photographer, Nine Photography to capture their love for each other.

How did the two of you meet? We met through a group of friends at a sushi restaurant and had drinks afterward at the Rattlesnake Bar at the Ritz Carlton.

Where is home for the two of you?
Julie – St. Louis, Missouri and Scott – Tuscola, Texas

When did you get engaged? We originally had a romantic vacation planned to Hawaii, where Scott was planning on proposing.  Instead, life got in the way.  We had to cancel our trip when our house sold and we were moving while we were supposed to be in Hawaii.

Tell us about your proposal. I loved that it was just the two of us. Scott planned to propose our first night in the new house, but plans were put on hold when friends stopped by with pizza to see our new home and help with unpacking.  Scott instead proposed the second night in the new house while unpacking the kitchen.

Who did you first tell you were engaged? I immediately called my family on one phone while Scott called his family on another phone.  We were so excited and couldn’t wait to share the news.  Quickly after those phone calls, we started texting all of our friends. It was fun to see everyone responses and kind words.

What’s your favorite memory from your engagement photo session? The day of our photo session was freezing!  We were trying to stay warm in the car while driving from location to location.  I love looking at the photos and remembering what it was like that day.  Thank goodness you can’t see on our faces how cold it was that day!  We also enjoyed our time with our photographers from Nine Photography – Kelly and Brandon.  They were truly a joy to work with, as they spent a lot of time with us and we love the results!

Which picture is your absolute favorite, and why? Our favorite is the one with the Dallas skyline in the background.  The photo was taken as the sun was setting atop a parking garage.  The skyline looked beautiful as the sun was setting with such vibrant colors. Another favorite is the photo of us in front of the green door.  We think that photo shows our true personality and spirit.

What quality do you like or admire most about each other? As I hope is true for most engaged or married couples, Scott and I are best friends and enjoy doing everything together.  The qualities that we most admire about each other is our honesty and our love for each other and our family.

Where is your favorite place  to go or your favorite thing to do with each other? Our favorite thing to do together is travel, especially internationally.  Our most recent trip was to Spain for the Tour de France and the running of the bulls.  We also enjoy collecting art, trying new local restaurants and hanging out with our two dogs – Matisse and Pablo.

What is your wedding date and where are you planning on getting married?
Our wedding is planned for June 19th, 2010 at Alys Beach, Florida.  We are getting married on the beach with the reception overlooking the beautiful town of Alys Beach.

What is one thing that you have enjoyed most about planning your wedding since you got engaged? I love wedding planning!  I helped my sister plan her wedding over two years ago and have been keeping notes of things I love ever since.  I knew I wanted a destination wedding.  During a vacation last year to the Florida coast, I had the opportunity to visit Alys Beach.  I immediately knew that this would be a perfect place for a wedding. The wedding dates in Alys Beach book very quickly so I had to move fast once we were engaged.  In fact, I think I had most of it worked out before I even had a ring on my finger!  :-)

The only thing that was hard for me was finding a dress.  I searched everywhere before deciding to have my dress made by Michael Faircloth.  He has such talent when it comes to listening to ideas and then putting them into his sketched designs.  I cannot wait to see the end product!

If you have already decided this, what colors are you using for your wedding?
We are mainly using blacks and whites and punches of color. Alys Beach is such a beautiful setting that I don’t want to compete with all of its great qualities. The ocean will be the backdrop for the wedding ceremony and reception – what can compete with that??

What are your three favorite wedding blogs and/or wedding websites? Southern Weddings, Style Me Pretty and  Hostess with the Mostess and…I love finding wedding items on Etsy.com

Congratulations Julie and Scott on your engagement and for sharing your love story with our readers.
