The most unfortunate moments of the wedding day:

• The outdoor ceremony was being threatened by rain all day during the setup and I kept wondering why the wedding planner didn’t insist on a Plan B regardless that it was on national television.  An alternative plan is a must for any outdoor ceremony!
• We thought it was just awful that Molly and Jason were standing in the rain saying their wedding vows. If you are not going to move inside on a rainy day, how about constructing a clean canopy for the bride and groom to stand under?  Or even an umbrella like all of the guests had would of been nice?

Our favorite moments and observations:

• We loved the bride’s strapless Monique Llhuiller gown.
• Molly’s green shoes. Fabulous!
• American Idol’s Jason Castro playing and signing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” as Molly walks down the aisle.
• The rainbow in the sky.
• The floral decor at the altar.

In the movie Leap Year, when their four-year anniversary passes without a marriage proposal, Anna (Amy Adams) decides to take matters into her own hands. Investing in an Irish tradition that allows women to propose to men on February 29th, Anna decides to follow her boyfriend Jeremy (Adam Scott) to Dublin and get down on one knee herself.

But airplanes, weather and fate leave Anna stranded on the other side of Ireland, and she must enlist the help of handsome and surly Declan (Matthew Goode) to get her across the country. As Anna and Declan bicker across the Emerald Isle, they discover that the road to love can take you to very unexpected places.

Food Network star, Giada De Laurentiis goes behind the scenes with chefs, sommeliers, pastry teams, decorators and event planners as they pull together fabulous high-end events. It sounds like a good combination of team working.  I’ll be setting my TV to record “Behind the Bash” early Friday mornings.

If you are searching for the dress for your bridesmaids to wear at your wedding, maybe you want to draw your inspiration from the movie, I Love You, Man. The bridesmaids in the movie wore a Nanette Lepore canary yellow dress. Yes, they are bright but fun. These are great for an outdoor ceremony, a garden wedding or just any bride who is not afraid of color and loves to have fun with color.  Your guests definitely won’t forget these dresses for sure!

Zooey, the bride played by Rashida Jones in the movie wears a simple but lovely J. Crew wedding dress that costume designer Leesa Evan customized with a few special touches. J. Crew has definitely been getting a lot of publicity lately since the first lady, Michelle Obama wore a J. Crew outfit. They offer some great wedding day looks at a very affordable price to not break the bank.

I just watched the show entitled, Culture Clash Weddings (2008).

Robert Irvine’s mission took him to the Woodmark Hotel in Kirkland, Washington where he was expected to create an unforgettable meal for a cross-cultural wedding. His challenge was to create a gourmet menu that fuses Asian and Irish cuisine, consisting of 600 hors d’oeuvres and a 4-course plated dinner for 150 wedding guests in 9 hours.

This wedding was emotional and special for the family, as the bride’s dad had been diagnosed with a terminal illness and the couple pushed up their wedding date six months (from August to January) to ensure that he would be at their wedding to walk his daughter down the aisle.

The mother of the bride requested a Chinese sticky rice. Since Robert did not know anything about this dish, the bride’s aunt volunteered to cook the dish which she did.

The guests loved the food as well as the bride and groom and their family. Everyone felt like Robert did an excellent job. The one thing that Robert did mess up was he forgot that the bride did not like bananas. The dessert for the dinner reception was a banana dish. Robert was supposed to make something else for the bride but obviously he didn’t make a note about it and forgot. That is why I always say, if it is not written down on a hotel’s Banquet Event Order it doesn’t happen.

The other item which really stood out in the show to me was the conflict between the wedding person at the hotel and Robert Irvine. He asked for some flowers specifically with color, greens, pinks and purples to use to plate on the trays they would be serving the hors’ doeuvres. She refused to give him anything but white flowers and green leaves she cut off of the hotel’s plants. She indicated that the bride requested only white flowers so she thought the “color” would not work. She was stubborn and he was stubborn about it. I personally thought that she should have trusted him and his professionalism and know that he would not have done anything that would have looked bad. In the end, the hors d’oeuvre trays looked great.
